As part of my research on existing solutions, I delved deeper into the challenges individuals face when attempting to save using their current methods. During insightful conversations with prospective users, I gathered valuable feedback on their pain points and experiences related to saving. Here are some of the key insights shared by these users.
“I find it hard to maintain consistent saving habits and often find it challenging to stay motivated and disciplined in my saving efforts.”
“Saving money can be a lonely and isolating process”
“I wish there was a supportive community that can provide encouragement, motivation, and accountability to stay on track with my savings goals.”
By incorporating user-centered design principles, conducting thorough research, and collaborating closely with stakeholders and software developers to develop a lasting solution for users.
IDEATE, DESIGN, AND PROTOTYPE
I formulated a key "How might we" statement that serves as a guiding principle throughout the ideation process, enabling us to tackle the identified problems effectively and generate innovative solutions.
“HMW” Statement
How might we ensure transparency and accountability in contribution tracking and payout rotation?
How might we enable seamless communication and coordination among group members in the app?
During various meetings, I explored the key considerations, features, and strategies employed to transform this concept into a reality. From understanding the target audience to designing an intuitive user experience, integrating secure payment systems, and implementing effective communication tools, I and the stakeholders ensured we left no stone unturned in our pursuit of creating a powerful and user-friendly group saving app.
User Research
From the user's perspective, Empathizing was very important if we wanted to discover a real user experience. We conducted a quantitative survey with google forms, shared the link with various demography around me. Here are some things we learned:
Research objectives
To learn how users currently manage their savings or meet their financial goals.
To learn if they were part of any group savings or collective savings practices.
To learn what features or functionalities users would expect from an app that facilitates group savings and collective financial goals
To understand how comfortable users are with using digital platforms for financial transactions and management
