Healthcare in Africa is facing critical challenges that have bred inefficiencies, mismanagement, and unavoidable fatalities. The sector is plagued with the absence of reliable data, record fragmentation, financial opacity, poor quality of care management and the recently heightened scourge of brain drain, all leading to the poor health indices
Genesys Health is journeying towards building a digital healthcare ecosystem that interconnects the drivers of the healthcare value chain, creating a community.
After all, in Africa, it indeed takes a community to build a village!
Research and Discovery
The design process began with extensive research to understand the pain points of healthcare providers and patients. This involved conducting interviews, surveys, and analyzing user feedback from existing systems. The aim was to identify usability issues, preferences, and areas requiring improvement.
Ideation and Prototyping
With insights from the research phase, I and with collaboration with stakeholders brainstormed ideas and developed low-fidelity prototypes of the EMR/HMIS dashboard and the Patient Self-Service App. Iterative design and testing helped refine the initial concepts, ensuring that the solutions were aligned with user expectations.
User-Centered Design
The heart of the design process was a user-centered approach. The dashboard and app were designed with simplicity and efficiency in mind. Clear information architecture, intuitive navigation, and a visually cohesive interface were prioritized to make the experience seamless for healthcare providers and patients alike.
Personalized Onboarding
Genesys Health implemented a personalized onboarding process that included tailored training sessions. These sessions were conducted in-person and virtually, accommodating various learning styles and schedules. Additionally, comprehensive onboarding resources such as video tutorials, interactive guides, and knowledge bases were provided.
Data-Driven Optimization
In preparation for post-launch, I designed a user feedback page continued to collect user feedback and monitor usage patterns. This data-driven approach allowed for the identification of areas for improvement and the implementation of necessary updates to enhance user experience.
As the Product Design Associate at Genesys Health, I was tasked with the exciting project of designing a new landing page for our Health Management Information System (HMIS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software suite. This landing page was a crucial component of our digital presence and aimed to showcase the innovative features and benefits of our healthcare solutions to potential clients, including medical institutions and healthcare providers.
User-Centered Approach: I began by conducting thorough user research to understand the specific needs and pain points of our target audience. This included healthcare administrators, clinicians, and IT professionals. By gaining insights into their preferences and requirements, I could tailor the landing page to address their unique concerns.
Information Architecture: To ensure clarity and ease of navigation, I carefully structured the content on the landing page. This involved organizing information about our HMIS/EMR solutions, highlighting key features, and providing clear calls-to-action for visitors to request more information or schedule a demo.
Visual Design: Leveraging my skills in visual design, I created a visually appealing and cohesive design that aligned with Genesys Health's branding. I incorporated healthcare-related imagery and icons to visually convey the benefits of our software. The color scheme and typography were chosen to evoke trust and professionalism.
Prototyping and Testing: I developed interactive prototypes of the landing page to simulate the user experience. This allowed us to conduct usability testing, gather feedback, and make iterative improvements. User testing was vital in ensuring that visitors could easily find the information they needed and take desired actions.
Mobile Responsiveness: Recognizing the importance of mobile accessibility in the healthcare industry, I ensured that the landing page was fully responsive, providing a seamless experience on both desktop and mobile devices.
